About the Artist

Finn Wennerwald (Danish, 1892/1896–1969) was a listed Danish landscape painter and the son of the celebrated artist Emil Wennerwald (1859–1934), from whom he received his early artistic training. Following in his father's footsteps, Finn specialized in atmospheric landscapes, painting en plein air and capturing the changing effects of natural light across forests, lakes, mountains, and rural villages.

Throughout his career, Wennerwald traveled extensively across Europe, finding inspiration in Denmark, Italy, Switzerland, France, Germany, and Norway. Between 1929 and 1943 he also taught painting to his own students. His works were exhibited internationally and are admired today for their harmonious compositions, rich palette knife textures, and romantic interpretation of nature. His paintings continue to appear regularly at major European and American auctions and remain sought after by collectors of Scandinavian landscape art.
