About the Artist:
Robert Cox (July 14, 1934 – June 18, 2001) was an American painter known for floral still lifes and decorative realism. He was born in Mt. Holly, New Jersey, studied at the Katharine Gibbs School of Art (1953–1956), and worked as a graphic designer at Mayhew Peakes Inc. before moving to California in 1962, where he focused on painting and built much of his reputation for vibrant floral works. Auction and dealer references frequently note Cox’s floral output from the 1970s–1980s and his use of a palette knife technique for stylized blooms, contributing to the textured, decorative look collectors recognize.
