About the Artist:
Meyer Kupferman (1926–2003) was a renowned American composer and multidisciplinary artist. Known for blending diverse musical elements—jazz, atonality, Romanticism, and serialism—Kupferman composed over 1000 works in nearly every genre. He taught at Sarah Lawrence College for over four decades and was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship in 1975, the same year this painting was created. His visual art, much like his music, explores psychological depth, layered complexity, and bold abstraction.
