About the Artist:

Edward Armfield (also known as Edgar Armfield Smith and Edwin George Armfield) was born in 1857 into a renowned artistic family. He was the son of famed animal painter George Armfield and the grandson of William Armfield Hobday. Trained by his father, Edward adopted a similar style and subject matter, becoming a prolific and sought-after painter of sporting dogs and charming genre scenes.

His works are held in numerous museum collections, including the Brighton Museum, Leamington Spa Art Gallery, The Whitaker, and Wolverhampton Art Gallery. Armfield lived and painted in Sydenham, London, until his death in 1935.
