Up for sale is a phenomenal large antique original oil painting on canvas by listed British/Scottish artist Norman M Macdougall (UK,1852-1939) depicting a genre scene. Titled "Boy reading with Grandmother". MacDougall was a landscape and figure painter, with his artworks often depicting pastoral scenes and daily life. 

This painting depicts a genre scene set in the late 19th . The focal point is a woman seated at a round wooden table, engaged in sewing or mending fabric. Opposite her, a young boy sits on a small chair, holding or reading a book.

Condition: Stable craquelures due to age. Color quality is very good for a painting of this age. Missing a few flakes of paint. No visible inpaint under UV light. Some small damages to the frame.
